The Early Years

Just a little background…

I grew up in the Detroit area, north of 8 Mile. My parents, Matt and Ann, saved enough money to buy me my first Sears and Roebuck drum set. Later, once they realized I was serious about music, they bought me my professional Ludwig kit—the same drum set still have to this day.

Growing up in Warren, I was surrounded by the sounds of ’70s rock—Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and so many others. My musical journey started behind the drums, but I always found myself singing. Eventually, that led me to become a frontman vocalist.

That transition was scary. Behind a drum set, you can kind of hide. Suddenly, it was just me, a microphone, and a microphone stand standing in front of the entire audience.

That shift from behind the drums to the front of the stage eventually led to the formation of Sweet Teaze, with Kevin Breslin, Ray Eveland, Matt Matthews, and David Press, later joined by Rocky Watt. As the band progressed  in the local Detroit music scene the final 4-piece band took shape.

About Sweet Teaze

Sweet Teaze was formed in 1987. Later that year, bassist Mike "Snake" Edwards joined the lineup, completing the band that would go on to record the album Do It Till It Hurtz and Groovin'.

Influenced by the energy and attitude of the hard rock scene in Detroit, Sweet Teaze developed a sound built on powerful vocals, driving guitar riffs, solid rhythms, and memorable hooks. The band's music reflects the spirit of the era while remaining timeless for today's rock fans.

Today, Sweet Teaze is introducing its music to a new generation through digital distribution, bringing the original recordings to streaming platforms around the world. Along with preserving the band's legacy, new projects are in the works as Sweet Teaze continues to share its music with longtime fans and new listeners alike.
